Haig G. Mardikian, Independent Chairman

Owner of the Haig G. Mardikian Enterprises, a real estate investment business (1971-present); a General Partner of M&B Development, a real estate investment business (1983-present); President and Director of Adiuvana-Invest, Inc., a real estate investment business (1989-present); Director of The Walnut Management Company, a privately held family investment management company (2008-present). He is the President of the Foundation of City College (2006-present); President of The William Saroyan Foundation (1992-present), and a Director of the Near East Foundation (2007-present). He serves as a Trustee of the Herbert Hoover Foundation (2002-present), and as a member of the Board of Overseers of the Hoover Institution at Stanford University (2006-present). Mr. Mardikian has served as a Managing Director of the United Broadcasting Company, radio broadcasting (1983-2001) and Chairman of the SIFE Trust Fund, a mutual fund, (1978-2002). He has served as a trustee of Trinity College, Hartford, CT (1998-2007) and as an appointed member and Vice-Chairman of The Commission on California State Government Organization and Economy (1984-1992).

Donald O’Connor

Financial Consultant (1997-present); Retired Vice President of Operations, Investment Company Institute ("ICI"), a mutual fund trade association (1969 - 1993); Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, ICI Mutual Insurance Company, an insurance company (1987-1997); Chief, Branch of Market Surveillance, Securities and Exchange Commission (1964-1969).

DeWitt F. Bowman

Director of Forward Funds, Inc. since 2000. Principal, Pension Investment Consulting, a consulting company (1994-present); Treasurer of Edgewood Center for Children and Families, a nonprofit care center (1994-2004); Director, Episcopal Diocese of California, a non-profit religious organization (1964-present); Director RREEF America Fund, a real estate investment trust (1994-2006); Trustee of the Pacific Gas and Electric Nuclear Decommissioning Trust Fund, a nuclear decommissioning trust (1994-present); Trustee, PCG Private Equity Fund, a private equity fund of funds (1998-present).

Cecilia Healy Herbert

Retired Managing Director and General Manager of JP Morgan’s San Francisco Office (1973-1976, 1978-1990). AVP-Signet Bank, Virginia (1976-1978). Director of Barclay’s iShares Exchange Traded Funds (2005-present), President of the Board of Catholic Charities CYO (Board Member since 1998 and president since 2007) and Director of The Thacher School (2002-present). She is a past Director of The Montgomery Funds (1992-2003), where she chaired the Audit Committee, and Pacific Life Insurance’s Pacific Select Funds (2004-2005). She chaired the Archdiocese of San Francisco’s Finance Council (1991-2006) and Investment Committee (1994-2006) and co-chaired Stanford University’s Parent Advisory Committee (1998-2000). She is past Director/Trustee of Schools of the Sacred Heart, Groton School, California Pacific Medical Center, California Pacific Medical Center Foundation, Women’s Forum West, and a past Director and President of Bay Area Professional Women’s Network. She received her BA from Stanford University in Economics and Communications, and an MBA from Harvard Business School. She is a Dame of the Order of Malta.



Interested Trustees

J. Alan Reid, Jr.

Mr. Reid is CEO and a Founder of Forward Management, the Investment Advisor for the Forward Funds. With 24 years of experience in the financial services industry, Mr. Reid was formerly a Principal and Executive Director of the Private Wealth Management team at Morgan Stanley, and a Senior Vice President and Director of Business Delivery at Morgan Stanley Dean Witter Online. In this capacity, he designed and implemented the company’s mutual fund platform and aggregation strategy, in addition to designing and building the online firm’s call centers, product delivery, human resources infrastructure and mutual fund supermarket. He serves on many industry and thought leadership committees, and is also a member of the Board of Governors of the Investment Company Institute, and the Board of Directors of FOLIOfn. Mr. Reid previously sat on the Advisory Boards for Sungard, Yodlee and Finaplex. Mr. Reid holds a B.S. in Business Administration from Menlo College, where he was awarded The Faculty Award for leadership, character, and service.
